Our Client

Wella Company is one of the world’s leading beauty companies, comprising a family of iconic brands including Wella Professionals, O-P-I, ghd, Briogeo, Nioxin, Sebastian Professional and Clairol. Wella was founded in 1880 by Franz Stroher in the German city of Darmstadt. The company is present in more than 100 countries and its main goal is to inspire beauty professionals and consumers.

Context

We have been working with our client for more than three years. The services we perform with Wella are: standard warehousing and APQ warehousing, transportation, ecommerce and reverse logistics. Similarly, our client demanded an added value in our services that would offer a more sustainable logistics and a high operational flexibility in line with the values of both companies. Within the sustainability strategy, Wella demanded:

  • Decarbonize logistics within the warehouse
  • Reduce the use of plastic
  • Have different box sizes for shipments and avoid sending air in packages
  • Digitize invoices
  • Reuse materials
  • Recycle waste
  • Avoid product expiration
  • Promote family reconciliation

Our contribution

  • #Transport
  1. We have successfully managed to work and improve in all the aspects Wella demanded
  2. Use of a sustainable warehouse in Illescas that meets LEED Gold platform standards.
  3. FM Logistic has converted six forklifts to hydrogen for use inside the warehouse
  4. All cardboard used is either recycled or sourced from sustainable forests
  5. Elimination of plastic bubbles as box filler. Recycled paper is used instead
  6. Design of five different box sizes to reduce costs and avoid shipping air
  7. Reuse of pallet covers and pallets for different shipments
  8. Sale of lots of Wella products at a symbolic price to raise funds for the Mary Ward Foundation. In this way, funds are raised for a social project and the disposal of products that are close to expiration date is avoided.
  9. Adaptation of shifts and schedules to promote family reconciliation. Eighty-five percent of the staff is female. We try to end the activity at 5:00 p.m., coinciding with the end of the after-school hours.
