Every year, Children’s Day is celebrated in Eastern European countries on 1 June. In several countries, this event is an opportunity to remind people of the importance of children’s rights and to offer them moments of pure happiness. Once again, the FM Foundation is involved. These initiatives often took the form of creative workshops, outdoor games and moments of sharing with the children of FM collaborators.
In Romania, the Inimi Noi association, which supports the educational, moral and personal development of disadvantaged children and victims of abuse, worked in partnership with the FM Foundation to organise a special fishing day for almost 30 young participants. A great opportunity to reconnect with nature and discover the joys of fishing in a fun and friendly environment.
In the Czech Republic, the celebration took place at the Litoměřice orphanage. Children from FM employees and orphans shared a moment of complicity around manual activities, sports games and precision. A drawing competition was organised on the theme of summer, with each work displayed and rewarded. The day gave FM employees an opportunity to discover the orphanage and the foundation’s ‘Take charge of your life’ project, strengthening ties and commitment.
Finally, in Slovakia, creativity was in the spotlight. Children of collaborators and those from the Sered orphanage were invited to create works (drawings, paintings, various products) on the theme of “Summer Holidays,” with one condition: to use only natural materials. Over 30 children participated in this artistic challenge, receiving a voucher for their favorite restaurant, McDonald’s, as a reward.
These initiatives demonstrate FM collaborators’ continuous commitment to children’s well-being. Beyond the fun activities, these days are an opportunity to build connections, foster creativity, and strengthen a sense of belonging. They offer children moments of lightness and joy, which are essential for their development and flourishing.
By investing in such actions, FM Foundation helps build a future where every child, regardless of their circumstances, has the opportunity to smile, learn, and thrive. These International Children’s Day celebrations are just a glimpse of the positive impact that collective commitment can have on the lives of the youngest.
