FM Logistic launches a new France–Poland multimodal corridor to reduce CO₂ emissions and secure European supply chains.
One year after launching the North–South corridor in France, FM Logistic announces the opening of its first international route between France and Poland. Managed end-to-end by the Group, in collaboration with the expertise of its partners, this corridor combines rail and road to offer a competitive alternative to all-road transport, create an unprecedented direct rail service between the two countries, and contribute to the reduction of CO₂ emissions. This new milestone marks a concrete acceleration in the deployment of a European multimodal network, serving efficient and responsible logistics.
With this new corridor, FM Logistic now connects the multimodal hub of Dourges (Hauts-de-France) to Poland. Based on the industrialized model of the national North–South corridor launched in September 2024, it combines rail transport for long distances and road transport for final delivery, offering a solution that is reliable, flexible, and low-carbon.
The system enables the transport of FM Logistic containers and non-liftable semi-trailers, thanks to dedicated baskets. Beyond these assets, the multimodal offering is built on a scheduled framework and rigorous organization that provides a secure alternative to all-road transport over long distances. It ensures regular departures and rail/road complementarity, allowing adaptation to loading days and customers’ operational constraints, while reducing exposure to road-related risks such as congestion, delays, or driver shortages.
Since the launch of the first domestic corridor in France, nearly 1,600 road trips have been avoided—equivalent to more than 2,000 trips per year at full capacity. A fully loaded train can replace up to 40 trucks, achieving up to an 80% reduction in door-to-door CO₂ emissions, depending on routes and flow configurations. Operation of the France–Poland corridor is fully managed by FM Logistic: provision of transport units, operational management of the rail partner and pre- and post-haulage road operations, coordination with terminals, and real-time monitoring.
“Our approach is industrial—in the sense that it is scheduled, tailored, and operational. We are deploying a multimodal offering capable of securing supply chains and meeting shippers’ requirements. Rail covers the long haul, while road ensures fine distribution: it is an intelligent complementarity that combines robustness, planned scheduling, and a reduced carbon footprint, while maintaining the flexibility expected by our customers,” says Sylvain Philippe, European Multimodal Development Manager at FM Logistic.
The opening of this international corridor also comes with a major material innovation, as it is now possible to load a trailer directly onto the train, and not only a swap body. This evolution broadens the scope of multimodal applications and strengthens FM Logistic’s ability to meet diverse customer needs, in terms of both volumes and types of goods.
The launch of this corridor is part of the Group’s Powering 2030 strategy, which aims to significantly reduce CO₂ emissions and support customers in decarbonizing their supply chains. By developing multimodal solutions, FM Logistic is acting on a key lever of modal shift, combining operational performance with positive environmental impact.
Beyond environmental gains, multimodal transport helps to ease road congestion, optimize existing rail capacity, and structure regional hubs connected to warehouses and consumption areas. Each corridor mobilizes an ecosystem of partners—rail operators, carriers, terminals, and equipment suppliers—contributing to job creation and the development of specific skills.
“Multimodal transport is a pillar of our European strategy. It is not just an alternative mode, but a different way of designing the supply chain, based on intelligence, pooling, and sustainability. This new link between Poland and France illustrates our determination to accelerate the deployment of a European multimodal network, serving both performance and our customers’ CSR objectives,” emphasizes Alexander Pavlov, Managing Director Central Europe at FM Logistic.
This new corridor represents the first building block of a European multimodal network that FM Logistic intends to gradually extend around complementary domestic routes, with direct connections from Dourges to the Southeast, Southwest, and Brittany in particular. This ambition also includes links to Central Europe, the Iberian Peninsula, and Southeast Europe (Romania). This European network aims to offer low-carbon transport solutions, supporting both the competitiveness of industries and European climate commitments.
